Description This unit covers the skills and knowledge associated with planning and organising non-routine testing within the enterprise.
Employability Skills This unit contains employability skills.
Learning Outcomes and Application This unit applies to non-routine testing associated with the product and process development for textile production. Work may be conducted in small to large scale enterprises and may involve individual and team activities and can include liaison with specialist technicians.The application of this unit is according to OHS practices of the enterprise and workplace practices, which may include:requirements prescribed by legislation, awards, agreements and conditions of employmentstandard operating procedureswork instructionsoral, written and visual communicationquality practices, including responsibility for maintenance of own work quality and contribution to quality improvement of team or section outputhousekeepingtasks related to environmental protection, waste disposal, pollution control and recyclingThis unit requires the application of skills associated with planning and organising for safe and effective testing of textile products and materials.   • Test is developed or planned to meet criteria, including testing at set stages, if required

  • Requirements are confirmed, if necessary
  • Equipment and resources required to perform the tests are obtained and prepared
  • Raw material, yarn, chemical mix or finished fabric is tested against specified quality standards using prescribed testing procedures and in accordance with OHS practices

  • Results of the tests are collated and analysed

  • Analysis is interpreted to determine performance and acceptability for production
